The Shillito’s display is a great memory of my childhood. I remember my dad taking us downtown the day after Thanksgiving every year to see the Christmas displays. I have also visited the elves when they were on display at the haunted house building in Dent (western Cincinnati), and in the windows at Mariemont. I am looking forward to seeing them restored and on display again. They bring back such warm memories. Thank you for your effort on this project.
We are very excited to hear the news. A touch of ole’ Cincinnati is just the shot this town needs. What a joy to think of seeing once again these cherished memorable guys. Thank you
I worked at Shillitos and saw the display every year. I would bring my 2 children as well to enjoy the display. How ecstatic I am to hear that they are going to be ‘back up and running’. I can’t wait to take my 2 year old grandaughter to see the display.
Does anyone know who originally built the display for Shillito’s?
My dad was Vice-President of Display Sales on Gest St. and later Red Bank Rd. His company did a lot of displays like this and I am trying to find out if they were involved with this. I have an elf in my attic from one of their displays, but it is different from Shillito’s elves. I would appreciate any info anyone can pass along. My dad has been deceased for almost 30 years and I would really like to know if his company was involved in this display.
Thanks
